The hydrogen system is taking shape
Despite challenges posed by increased costs and economic uncertainties, the system is steadily taking shape, combining production and use primarily in industry, as well as the import and transit of hydrogen to other parts of Northwest Europe.
The industry’s most influential hydrogen event returns to Rotterdam to deliver its largest edition yet.
Brought to you by the Sustainable Energy Council and RX Global, in partnership with the Dutch Government, the Province of South Holland, the City of Rotterdam and the Port of Rotterdam, World Hydrogen 2025 is recognised as the official meeting place where hydrogen deals get done and key partnerships are forged. Join 15,000 global industry experts at the Rotterdam Ahoy 20-22 May (Booth E003).

Cruise Port Rotterdam shore power installation commissioned
With the commissioning of the shore power installation, Cruise Port Shore Power is staying ahead of European law, which stipulates that all cruise ships in European ports must use shore power by 2030.
After a construction period of 22 months, the Cruise Port Shore Power installation was officially opened on 31 March, 2025, on the Holland Amerikakade. The official inauguration was performed by Robert Simons, Alderman for Port & Economy, and Boudewijn Siemons, CEO of Port of Rotterdam Authority. This makes the ms AIDAnova the first cruise ship to use shore power in Rotterdam.
Port experience centre Portlantis festively opened
Portlantis offers a stimulating day out: a place full of admiration for the port, whether you have been in the port for years or coming for the first time. The interactive experience centre allows you to discover and immerse yourself in the port of Rotterdam. Portlantis tells the story of both the port of today and the port of the future, using a variety of narrative forms. These include virtual reality, augmented reality, exhibitions with large 3-D models, and laboratories where you can conduct chemical and technical experiments.
Again this year, we have the pleasure of welcoming you to the port of Rotterdam pavilion. The Rotterdam Port Promotion Council (RPPC) facilitates the pavilion at its customary location in hall B3 (313/414). Nearly 40 companies from the Rotterdam port area will be represented at the pavilion.
Our white paper features insights from key players like Broekman, Steinweg & Rhenus in the port of Rotterdam, discussing the opportunities and challenges they encounter to stay adaptable in a rapidly changing world. Dive into the full white paper and learn how we are collectively shaping the future.
After the Rotterdam mayor raised the Portlantis flag next to the building, alongside school pupils from the last year of primary and first year of secondary school from the region, the official opening of Portlantis followed in the building's central atrium. There, together with three people who work in the port day in and day out, Mayor Schouten placed her hand on the metre-wide three-dimensional port model, which illuminated upon touch, revealing the image of the port of Rotterdam.
Portlantis, the new port experience centre at Maasvlakte II, was festively opened on the afternoon of Wednesday 19 March. Mayor Carola Schouten officiated at the opening in the atrium of Portlantis.
